Topical Corticosteroids in AD

ADCARE Current Projects

Project goals

Defining the Non-response to Topical Corticosteroids in Atopic Dermatitis

Project description

  • Topical corticosteroids (TCS) are first-line therapy in AD, widely used across all severities of the disease.
  • Despite their central role, no standardized definition exists for treatment non-response to TCS.
  • This lack of clarity affects both clinical practice and clinical trial design.
  • The initiative aims to define consensus-based, clinically meaningful non-response criteria for TCS use in AD.

Status

  • Literature Review – PubMed search identifying 403 relevant publications
  • Expert Panel – 118 ADCARE-certified dermatologists and allergists invited to participate.
  • Consensus Statement – presentation + round of eDelphi voting Agreement ≥70% defined (current progress)
  • Final Statements – Formal expert opinion on non-response definitions to TCS in AD
